High mechanical strength and durability: withstands high loads, offering a good strength-to-weight ratio and being a lightweight material. Wear-resistant and low-friction: ideal for moving parts, gears and sliding surfaces. High toughness: good impact resistance. Thermal, chemical and electrical properties: withstands moderate temperatures, resists oils and fuels (but is sensitive to strong acids) and is an electrical insulator. Humidity absorption: can absorb water, which slightly alters its mechanical properties.

High chemical resistance: withstands acids, bases and most chemicals. Waterproof: does not absorb water or other liquids. Lightweight: has a low density (approx. 0.91–0.97 g/cm³). Strong and durable: good resistance to abrasion and wear. Flexible or rigid depending on the type: LDPE is more flexible and HDPE is more rigid. Thermoplastic: can be moulded using heat. Sensitive to sunlight: requires UV additives for prolonged outdoor use.

The basic characteristics are similar to those of any polyester, but with a lower melting point (150°–160°). Dyeing options: Our Bio-Raffia can be dyed with disperse dyes at a temperature of between 110°C and 115°C. As well as being available in its natural colour, it can also be supplied in other colours through the mass dyeing process. Biodegradability and Compostability: As mentioned above, our Bio-Raffia is a biodegradable and compostable product, as it is broken down by natural micro-organisms, depending on the soil’s moisture content, quality and organic matter.
